We will push for a fair, transparent and accountable bursary system that puts the child first.
Existing bursary schemes should be brought together under a unified national education support framework administered through the Ministry of Education. Support should be based on clear and transparent criteria so that families know where to turn and children receive help based on their actual needs.
Education support should follow the child, not political connections.
Making Education Support Accessible
No parent should have to move from one political office to another asking for help to keep their child in school.
We will advocate for a system where children from families that genuinely need support can access it without having to know or personally approach an elected leader.
Parents should be able to focus on raising their children, not pleading for assistance to meet basic educational needs.
Knowing What Education Really Costs
The government must know what it actually costs to provide every child with a quality basic education.
We will advocate for the Ministry of Education to conduct an annual assessment of education needs and costs. This should cover the resources required to support learning, including learning materials, infrastructure and other essential needs.
With accurate information every year, the government can plan properly, allocate resources responsibly and respond to the real needs of schools and families.
Putting Children First
Education policy should always begin with the child.
No child should be forced to miss school because their family cannot afford a uniform, stationery or other basic learning requirements.
We will support policies that remove these barriers and give every child a genuine opportunity to learn and develop their abilities.
Building Systems That Work for Everyone
Education should not depend on the goodwill of an individual politician.
Public resources should be managed through strong and accountable institutions so that every child can access the support they need, regardless of where they come from or who their parents know.
